Student's needs

I have chosen the subject Geografia e Historia, and the level  is 2º ESO, the main contents are these:


-A slight knowledge of historical time: length, simultaneity, change, and succession.A slight knowledge of causal explanation and historical interpretation.
-Resources on medieval and modern history knowledge. Resources limits.
-Roman Empire Crisis, German invasions and West political division: German Kingdoms, Byzantium and Islam Spread.
-Feudal societies creation: lords and peasants, privileged and non privileged. Medieval Church role. Cities comercial spread and recovery. European military Spread: The Crusades. Muslim control of Al-Andalus and its evolution (Emirate and Caliphate)
-Christian Kingdoms expansion: conquest process, repopulation, and colonization. The Kingdom of Valencia.Cultural variety and its dissemination:the role of the Toledo School of Translators and Pilgrims’ route to Santiago. Romanesque, Gothic and Islamic art and their historical-artistic heritage. -Muslim, Jewish and Christian conflict.
-The Late middle ages in Europe ( XIV and XV). The late middle Ages crisis: “ black death”
-The monarchy empowerment. The medieval courts.
-The cultural changes on Modern era: Renaissance and Humanism; their influence on scientific revolution.
-Artistic Evolution on Modern Era: Renaissance and baroque. The geographical discoveries. Castilla and Portugal expansion. The Conquest and Colonization of America and its consequences on indigenous societies.
-The creation of Hispanic Monarchy. Territorial expansion strategies: wars and dynastic politics.
-Social and religious conflicts and political changes in Modern Era: protestant reformation, catholic counter-reformation and religious wars, thirty years’ war.
-Absolute monarchy and parliamentarism.

As we can see the contents of the subject may seem quite difficult to the students because they require complex oral and written expression. The main linguistic exchanges needed in a typical clase will be:
-Express likes and dislikes
-Practice listenings with documentaries
-Being able of express opinions
-Being able of ask for information. (Surveys about recent histórical facts)
-Knowledge of the basic specifics words of the subject.
-Reading blogs and information on-line about History topics.
-Questions and answers about different topics to ensure they understand everything.

-Different games and quizzes about Historical characters and facts.
